All Kansas state-chartered banks and trust companies are authorized to be closed January 9, 2025, due to the declaration of a National Day of Mourning for President James (Jimmy) Earl Carter, Jr. by President Biden and the designation of a legal holiday in observance of the National Day of Mourning by Governor Laura Kelly (Executive Order 24-05).

The bank and trust company closures are permitted by K.S.A. 9-1122(c) (see below).  Please note that if the bank or trust company is closed pursuant to this section, the bank or trust company shall give reasonable notice of the closing by posting a notice in a conspicuous place at the main office and all branch locations and through any other means deemed appropriate, such as publication in a newspaper or notice by social media.

The Office of the State Bank Commissioner will be closed on January 9, 2025 to observe the National Day of Mourning and will re-open on January 10, 2025.
